Munch a Lunch Image

Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School is happy to offer a hot lunch program for students. The program is organized through Munch a Lunch. We would like to welcome our new lunch provider Wellfed, a North Vancouver company.

Tuesday will be hot lunch day until further notice.

Ordering Instructions

Step 1: Register Family Account (Click Here)

First time users must register a family account. After registering, you will be taken to the My Children page to add children to your family account. You can also indicate any food allergies here.

Step 2: Order Lunch

Click Order Lunch, select your child’s name, and click the “next” button, to be shown the available Menus. Select lunch items from the menu options for each lunch day (note: if you wish to skip a day, just click “next menu” without adding any food items). At the end of ordering, you can “select another child” and repeat the steps for each of your children. If you require assistance please click the blue Contact Us button.

Step 3: Payment

Payment can be made by cheque or credit card online.

You can login to your account at any time by using the login link above. Simply click Account Balance to view your child’s orders, reprint your receipt or pay an outstanding balance.

At KGMS, we teach the way your child learns. We believe that every child is unique, and rather than requiring him or her to fit within a rigid, pre-determined program we create a learning environment that’s adaptive, producing the best possible circumstances for success.

Our students work in a dynamic classroom setting that includes whole class, small group and one-on-one tutoring. Instruction and activities are conducted with a student-teacher ratio of 5:1. Ministry of Education prescribed curriculum is addressed in all instructional areas from grades 1 – 7.

With over 40 years of experience, KGMS has a long tradition of educational excellence. We use the world-renowned Orton-Gillingham Method which teaches students visually, auditorily and kinesthetically, allowing them to engage in their learning and retain skills and concepts that would have previously been forgotten.

Children receive daily individualized one-on-one tutoring. Depending upon their needs, the tutoring sessions may develop reading using the Orton-Gillingham method, mathematics using critical thinking and problem-solving strategies or social emotional skills through direct instruction and supervised play.

Every student receives an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) which is developed by the classroom teacher with input from the student’s tutor, and in collaboration with the parents. The IEP customizes instructional strategies and resources to address the child’s strengths and needs.

Our program empowers students and restores confidence in their abilities. We prove to our students that they are intelligent and they are entitled to learn joyously, to succeed and to reach their potential. We equip them with an understanding of their learning style and a vision for their future, enabling them to become successful self-advocates in the real world.

Who Should Apply?

Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School occupies a unique position among independent schools that specialize in teaching children with learning disabilities, being the first of its kind in Western Canada. With over 40 years of experience, we’ve determined that the following attributes are required of a potential student:

  • Submit a current psycho-educational assessment which indicates a language-based learning disability; or other supporting documentation indicating other learning challenges including, but not limited to, chronic health; visual or hearing impairments; or Autism Spectrum Disorder;
  • Meet the Ministry of Education guidelines for designation of a learning disability;
  • Have average to superior intelligence;
  • Demonstrate that the primary impediments to the student’s learning process are learning differences. Any behavioral, physical or emotional issues must be of secondary concern.

Work BC's Find Your Fit - March 6th

The WorkBC Find Your Fit Tour is an interactive student based event taking place at KGMS on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.

  • Students & Teachers from 8:15am –3:15pm
  • Students and parents from 3:30pm – 6:00pm

Students can jump right in and try the skills they’ll need for different careers in demand across the province. This hands-on event will help students apply real life experiences to their career planning, and connect with WorkBC’s labour market information, tools and services.

Constitution & Bylaws and PAC meeting

All parents are welcome to review and provide input to the PAC’s draft Constitution and Bylaws. The deadline for comments and input is March 16th, 2018.

The Constitution and Bylaws final version will be voted in at a Special General Meeting (SGM) to be held in the library on Wednesday, April 11th at 2:30pm. This will be followed by our normally scheduled PAC General Meeting. All parents are welcome to attend.
